Marking solutions for sawmills
Previously, marking in a sawmill environment was limited to low-resolution "dot printing" — with poor readability and limited information — or labels that slowed production rates. Labels caused unnecessary constant stops for changing rolls and adjusting mechanical arms, and labels that came off or stuck together during production and transport.
With modern UV-curing inkjet technology, all of this is replaced with high-resolution, permanent stamps and codes directly on wood or packaging materials.

We can print directly on the wood and on the packaging materials used with the same ink!

End timber marking We mark directly on end timber, barcodes in black + white as well as quality and logo marking in any color.

Flatside marking : We mark all existing types of quality stamps such as JAS, TP, CE, CA-UK and also CMP for painted wood.

Stack marking We can mark stacks and packages with traceability marking for internal logistics . We can even mark from below!

Package/packaging marking: Of course, we also mark planks (both flat side and end wood) and plywood sheets for example pallet collars.

Label replacement: Labels are not optimal on living material and for transport and storage outdoors, they fade and fall off. We replace this with direct printing both on the wood and on the packaging plastic
APA and EPAL certified Innovation
GSI Nordic and our products are EPAL certified for marking European pallets, including the new requirements for QR codes . We are also APA certified for permanent marking on wood and board materials in the USA.

Marking after adjustment — Planer marking
Immediately after planing/adjustment, each individual piece of timber is marked with information for internal traceability and regulatory compliance. UV-curable inkjet printing replaces traditional stamps and labels with fast, durable and flexible marking at production rates.
Inline at production speed — UV inkjet printers mounted directly at the planer mark at full production speed — no bottleneck, no manual handling, instant UV curing.
Internal traceability — Each piece of wood is linked to the original log, saw grade and drying program. Enables complete chain management from forest to end customer — central for complaints and EUDR.
2D codes & DataMatrix — Compact machine-readable codes with high data density. Contains part numbers, batch data and internal traceability — readable even with partially damaged surfaces.
ISPM 15 stamps — International standard for wood packaging for export. Heat treatment (HT) or fumigation marking — required for pallets and packaging wood at border crossings.
